North Cascades
Background and methods:
The Bride is a reduction woodcut depicting a day spent touring in the North Cascades.
Black Peak is a multi block woodcut based on a sketch I made while hiking the PCT in 2016.
Gardner Peak (the banner) is a trace monotype recalling the topography of the view up valley.
The Sisters bike tracks are a soap-ground/coffee-lift intaglio print that arose from a solo bikepacking trip across the central Oregon Cascades. The colors take cues from the volcanic soil, the late summer blueberry leaves and the midday dust on the back roads. This map evokes the freedom to take to the mountains with nothing but a bicycle.
A Valley Like This maps the Methow watershed and some of the organisms that bring back memories. It is inspired by the William Stafford poetry installed throughout the valley- especially the piece on Washington Pass. Polyester plate lithography and linoleum stamps.
The Enchantment Lakes Quadrangle recalls a day spent running across the majestic backdrop of the Enchantments, becoming acquainted with the topography step by step. The print is an intaglio photopolymer transfer.
